Many thanks to Shelley and all the committee volunteers for your thoughtfulness, efforts and time in getting the word out.

The RTCPD will post its next meeting date on this site as soon as it is scheduled. We are investigating options while the library is closed.

Stay safe!

A YES vote on Issue 3 on your mail-in ballot (rescheduled election date, April 28) will provide the Citizens' Park District funds to purchase and preserve green space in Russell, creating park access for residents and future generations.

The Citizens’ Park District plans to create trail access to land it acquires, as discussed in its February meeting.  It is currently considering a 64-acre parcel on Music Street - the remaining piece of the historic Gallo property. A small parking area and hiking trails would be added for citizens' use. The goal is to create trails that respect existing terrain and have as little negative impact on the earth as possible, while allowing good access.

Additional goals include stewardship of watershed areas and protection of part of Silver Creek, which runs through the property. This 64-acre parcel also backs up to the West Woods, extending protected property in Russell.

A Clean Ohio Greenspace Conservation Grant would help pay for a large part of the cost of this property. The Board received word that it passed the first level of approval to receive the grant. The levy would provide the remainder of the funds.

Yes on Issue 3 means residents' cost would be approximately $35 per $100,000 valuation of their property annually for 5 years.

The Russell Township Citizens’ Park District (511), was created at the request of Russell citizens. Its Mission is to acquire and protect land, keeping it in Russell Township control. It answers to the citizens of Russell and to the Russell Trustees.
